2391-50 Initial Verification Mock Exam
The City & Guilds 2391-50 qualification focuses on the initial verification of new electrical installations: the inspection and testing you carry out before a new circuit or installation is put into service, and the Electrical Installation Certificate or Minor Works Certificate you issue afterwards.
Our 2391-50 mocks match the length and timing of the written paper and are written from BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, the IET On-Site Guide and Guidance Note 3.

Who this mock exam is for
This exam suits electricians who install new work and want to certify it themselves, and those working towards competent person scheme membership. It is narrower than 2391-52 because it does not cover periodic inspection of existing installations.
Questions cover the inspection checklist, the correct sequence of dead and live tests, continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth electrode resistance, earth fault loop impedance, prospective fault current, RCD and functional testing, and completing the schedule of test results.
How to get the most from the mocks
Learn the order of tests and the reason for it. The exam often asks why one test must come before another, for example why continuity of protective conductors is confirmed before any live test.
Get comfortable with the tables. You will need to find maximum earth fault loop impedance values, minimum insulation resistance values and the correct test voltages, and then compare them with readings given in the question.
Read every workout after each mock, including on the questions you got right. Understanding why the wrong answers are wrong is the best preparation for questions that are worded differently on the day.
How FreeMocks works
Free mocks, no sign-up. The first mocks on every live exam are free. You can start one straight away without an account, and create one afterwards if you want to save your result.
A real timer. Each mock runs to the same time limit as the real exam, so you learn your own pace. You can flag questions and come back to them before you submit.
No feedback until the end. Just like the real exam, you don't see whether you are right while you work. When you submit, you get your score and a review of every question.
A full workout. Each answer comes with an explanation, why each wrong option is wrong, a memory trick, step-by-step working for calculations and the regulation reference. Pro unlocks the full workout on every question and every mock.
Questions are written by us from scratch and are not real exam questions. FreeMocks is independent and is not endorsed by City & Guilds, EAL or the IET.
